A companion he had in the secret prisons testified against Rodrigo de Velasco, saying that he was mocking and making fun of a crucifix that was painted in the prison, saying that “this was falsehood and deceit, that if he were a carpenter he would not make those idols because the unbelievers would not believe”.
The Portuguese Rodrigo de Velasco was charged because “un compañero que tenia en las carceles secretas depuso contra el que mofava y burlava de un crucifixo que estava pintado en la carcel diciendo que aquello era falsedad y engaño, que si el fuera carpintero no hiziera aquellos ydolos porque los descreyentes no creyeran”
