Ritual Murder and its Afterlife

Yanay Israeli

Cloe Cavero examined the complex afterlife of ritual murder accusations as religious cults at the Departamental Seminar of Spanish and Latin American Studies of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

She used unpublished textual and visual sources to offer the first attempt of reconstructing the afterlife of the 1491 trial of La Guardia, arguably the most notorious blood libel in late medieval Spain. Looking at three different stages of the development of the cult of the Holy Child of La Guardia, Cloe Cavero discussed new perspectives on Spanish anti-Semitism.
